On a MUCH lighter note......

today is a "snow day" for us! Now, if you know anything at all about "winter weather" in the deep south, you know that predicted snow can be anything from nothing...absolutely zip, zero, nadda.....all the way up to blizzard like conditions. We just never know what we're gonna get, but you can bet your bottom dollar that when it is mentioned we NEVER fail to prepare for the latter, particularly in our bread and milk purchasing. I went to the grocery store Friday afternoon, just because I really needed a few groceries, and it was a complete mad house. Like Thanksgiving food preparation day at the grocery store on steroids! There was NO bread...and that was 3 whole days before the predicted "storm". And if I am honest with you, I will tell you that yesterday, after church, I did get into a teensy bit of a "panic" and cook about 5 things that could be heated over open flames "just in case we were without power for several day"...you know, because that happens so often. It made me feel a little like Ma Ingalls, except for all of the electricity all the rest of the time part. And, just as a side note, school was cancelled by around 5:00 pm. (Which I totally understand...you have to make a call...but OH, I was so sad....sad because I know how long the spring will get when we have no weather days....been there, done that, had the t-shirt, trashed it!)

So, anyway, we hunkered down last night fully preparing for the worst. And then we woke up this morning to.......ICE!!!!! That was it! It was, indeed, too dangerous to travel, but at least a LITTLE SNOW would have lessened the blow of the whole "we used a weather day for this" feeling. Again, don't misunderstand me....I realize the danger of the ice on the roads, and I understand that it was best...but that has led for a day where we have been pretty much....trapped! So, what do you do when you are "trapped"?

1. You wrestle.

(I had a picture here, but I couldn't decide if it was appropriate or not.....Leighton had on shorts and....well.....I couldn't decide if it was appropriate.)

2. You "make salads". (This particular variety of salad consists of crackers (Ritz for Leighton, Cheez Nips for Logan), ranch dressing, slice cheese, and....noodles! I know, it is so gross...but I was kind of in a "it won't hurt you, so why not" mood, so I let them. THEY were delighted...said it was delicious. And, let's face it, this is as close to a salad as either of them is going to get, so......

3. You pride yourself on your ability to keep the "home fires burning".

4. And, finally, you answer the question, "Will you play army with me now?" approximately 154,000 times.

(Logan's current obsession is playing army. He loves it....eats, sleeps, and breathes it. It is his first question on his lips when he gets up and the thing that we have to literally pry him away from before he goes to bed. He CONSTANTLY has a sword and a shield. And sometimes a gun. He says he needs a "warrior" costume. And, because we don't have one, he dresses up in all manner of clothing that he calls "army outfits". He uses gloves, helmets, boots, coveralls, taboggins, a batman cape, and, most recently, the cover for Leighton's booster seat. The mask above is his latest find to help him "dress up like army". ---- I. LOVE. IT!)

So, it is now 4:00 and I have next to nothing productive to show for my day...well, unless you count the amazing fire that I have managed to keep going all day long. So, I am off to be productive...so that means I am about to go and make me a good cup of coffee and curl up on the coach to mourn the loss of a spring weather day and also the fact that we have to go back to work tomorrow....and maybe to pray that I do not slip on any of the remaining patches of ice tomorrow.

Happy Snow Day!

Goodbye!
