2011~Can you believe it is 2011? I have so many mixed emotions at the beginning of a new year....I am not much of a resolution maker, because I typically don't keep those resolutions and then I have all of those "bad resolution keeping feelings" that make me feel defeated...and,well, I have just chosen not to do that to myself....BUT, I do have "dreams" for the year. For the most part, they are the same over and over (thus, the "not keeping my resolutions" thing) but I do love the thought of a new year. To quote one of my favorite movies, Forrest Gump (I know, I know!), "Don't you just love the new year...you get to start all over!" So, I guess the theme for this year is going to be fresh starts! I want to be a better follower of Christ, wife, mother, daughter, friend....pretty much, I want to be a new me.....the old me is just so, well, me! Do you ever get outdone with yourself??? I do! So, my first MAJOR plan for the year is to participate in a Scripture Memory Team. I am doing this through Beth Moore's website, Living Proof Ministries and her blog there. The goal is to memorize 24 scriptures throughout 2011. So, my verse for today is this
You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. Psalm 65:11 NIV
This is the verse I will claim this year....to have a year of bounty and abundance in the Lord. I hope to talk less and listen more, hurry less and enjoy my children being little more, spend more time talking with my husband rather than brewing over the things that I feel he hasn't done....I hope to be more focused in my job so that I can be a true asset to my employer. But to accomplish all of this, I know I will have to fully rely on God to supply my needs....and to guide my desires to align with His will...that is the thing about resolutions, or "plans", if you will, they are all in vain without the direction of the Holy Spirit....so I can make plans but ultimately what I want more than anything for 2011 is to fall in love with Jesus more and more and allow him to guide my paths in ways of righteousness.
Happy New Year! I hope your resolutions and plans align with God's desire for your life! I will be praying this for you!

I can identify with this post! I am also participating in the LPM scripture memory team. God changed my heart in so many ways last year through His word. I can't wait to see what this year holds.
